There is a tiny spot of pinprick surface erosion on the outside edge of the left recoil shield There is a ding in the left side of the barrel, a few small dings and one large ding in the backstrap, a few light marks in the ejector rod housing and a few tiny marks on the left side of the grip frame above the trigger. The cylinder has a drag line. The screw heads are mostly sharp, with a few showing light marks from a screwdriver. The markings are crisp. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The cylinder lockup is SOLID. The trigger pull is crisp. The action has been modified with the addition of a transfer bar safety. The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: Ruger first released the Blackhawk revolver in 1955, chambered in .357 Magnum, and found that the action was so strong that it could handle .44 Magnum and .30 Carbine pressures, so Ruger made those calibers available in 1956 and 1968, respectively. The kick from the Blackhawk frame was impressive in .44 Magnum, so Ruger increased the side of the frame and called the .44 version a Super Blackhawk. The New Model Blackhawk was released in 1973 that added a transfer bar safety system. Ruger made it a policy that any Blackhawk sent back to them for repair would receiver a free upgrade to the transfer bar system, and one could also send their revolver back for that upgrade free of charge. Before Ruger came out with their Vaquero model in 1993, the Blackhawk was about the only quality revolver made of modern design with coil springs, and many Cowboy Action shooters favored their use because of their reliability. Shooters who chose Blackhawks were put in the Modern category because of the theoretical advantage they had with adjustable sights. This revolver is a Ruger Blackhawk made in 1967 with a 6 ½” barrel and chambered for either .38 Special or .357 Magnum cartridges. The revolver obviously has seen some holster use and its previous owner had the transfer bar safety installed. This revolver has a very strong action and its reliability is unsurpassed. It will be great for Cowboy Action shooting and with its adjustable sights can also be used for small game hunting and predator control.

Fits the Ruger New Model Single-Six, Ruger Single-Ten, New Model Blackhawk, Ruger Vaquero (with serial numbers beginning with 50-XXXXX), New Model Super Blackhawk with the round trigger guard and Old Army. I have just acquired an old model Blackhawk 45, The cylinder has the last 3 digits of the serial number electro penciled on the back of the cylinder. Great Story, for a short period of time I had my hands on a very early serial number Blackhawk in 30 carbine. To my memory it is still the most accurate handgun I ever fired, I remember busting bowling pins with it at well over 100 yards, untuned as it came out of the box, shooting old milsurp ammo. Ruger Old Model Blackhawk 357 Magnum Description: Ruger Blackhawk Old Model 3 screw. Blackhawk in original factory condition. No safety factory upgrade. 6 1/2' blued barrel with serial number 102669 indicating 1967 production. Clean gun in excellent condition with hardly any wear visible. Only flaw is the slightest cylinder ring.

I have a Ruger Three Screw, I contacted Ruger about the pistol to find out the age by serial number they said it was a 1967 model. Ruger also said that when it left NH in April 1967 it was blued, but the pistol I have has a nickel finish on it, with a gold cylinder and a gold barrel, and the numbers on the cylinder match the last three numbers of the serial number.

Ruger Old Model Blackhawk

Great Story, for a short period of time I had my hands on a very early serial number Blackhawk in 30 carbine. To my memory it is still the most accurate handgun I ever fired, I remember busting bowling pins with it at well over 100 yards, untuned as it came out of the box, shooting old milsurp ammo. I've never been able to duplicate that with any other pistol, not at that range. I always figured it was that extra long barrel and what was probably the optimum range for the 30 carbine round, we never paced it off but it was easily a city block. I remember years later a buddy and I that had shot the pistol were shooting the bull with another guy that was a well known 'know it all' and I remember telling the guy that with less than three fouling shots I could hit the traffic lights better than a block away, he laughed and I told him I'd put money on it, my buddy told the guy about the bowling pin adventure and the guy backed off. The way that pistol shot at that range is the only way I've ever been able to believe that a guy like old Elmer could shoot a deer at 600yds and even he walked the rounds into his target.
