Barrel Length: 3 ¾”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed into the top of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed into the slide with two tritium lamps. The lamps have dimmed somewhat but are still useful in very low-light situations.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece textured black plastic that encloses the backstrap and leave the serrated frontstrap exposed. The grips are marked “SIG SAUER” and 'P229' near the bottoms. The grips show little to no wear. The grips fit well with no major defects worth noting. The grip rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: The pistol has a satin stainless steel frame and blued stainless steel slide with polished stainless steel flats on the sides.
Finish Originality: The finish is original.
Bore Condition: The barrel is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The gun does not appear to have been used much outside the factory testing. There are a couple of very light marks in the polished area on the right side of the slide, light operational wear on the barrel and a small mark on the edge of one of the forward slide serrations on the left side. You have to be looking very close to see anything wrong. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol has a de-cocker on the left side of the frame and was not built with a magazine disconnect. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a blue plastic hard case that numbers to the gun and two 12 round magazines, one with light operational wear in about Fine-plus condition and one in a sealed bag with no notable defects in Excellent-plus condition. The interior of the case is lined with foam which has softened with age and the exterior shows light marks and scuffs from storage. The case is in about Fine condition. Please note, the magazines will not be shipped to a bidder in a state in which they may not be legally transferred.

Our Assessment: The P229 is a compact variant of the larger P226, itself a double stack magazine variant of the P220. Because of its compact size, relatively lightweight and large magazine capacity, the P229 is a favorite for duty and concealed carry purposes. This pistol is a little more hefty as it sports a stainless steel and a steel frame rather than alloy. This extra mass will help tame the recoil of the .40 S&W cartridge and also gives the pistol a great aesthetic appeal. The gun has seen some range use but very little in our opinion. A great pistol in high condition to add to a collection or show off at the range. Please see our photos and good luck!
