I have an Excel spreadsheet with a user form that uses the calendar control. It works fine on my machine, but others can't use it because they are missing the mscomct2.ocx file. The problem occurs when you wrote programs in VB6 and used the ActiveX runtime files COMDLG32.OCX, MSCOMCTL.OCX (and others). When you try to open a compiled version on win7 or later, you get errors saying these ActiveX files are missing or not registered. Sep 16, 2009 I have the same problem. I am running 64-bit windows 7. MSCOMCT2.OCX was already in my C: Windows SysWOW64 folder, so I right-clicked on a shortcut to a command prompt and chose 'Run as Administrator.' Mscomctl.ocx is a file extension for a custom control file format used by ActiveX forms. Mscomctl.ocx is used for interface behaviors that are triggered by users or programs; like resizing windows or scroll bar movement. My friends: Happy New Year! I work with Windows 8.0, 64 bits and Excel 2013. In order to add a listview control, I need to download the mscomctl.ocx file. Windows 10 doesn't ship the MSCOMCTL.ocx anymore, the MSCOMCTL.ocx is a library that is used by the Visual Basic 6 Runtime to render the application GUI Solution Download the MSCOMCTL.ocx here. The mscomctl.ocx is an executable file on your computer's hard drive. This file contains machine code. If you start the software Windows ActiveX on your PC, the commands contained in mscomctl.ocx will be executed on your PC.
Overview of MSCOMCT2.OCX
What Is MSCOMCT2.OCX?
MSCOMCT2.OCX is a type of OCX file associated with Drivers and Utilities Dell OptiPlex ResourceCD developed by Dell for the Windows Operating System. The latest known version of MSCOMCT2.OCX is 1.0.0.0, which was produced for Windows. This OCX file carries a popularity rating of 2 stars and a security rating of 'UNKNOWN'.
What Are OCX Files?
OCX files, such as MSCOMCT2.OCX, are COM (Component Object Model) interface technologies often referred to as an ActiveX control. ActiveX controls are tiny programs, sometimes called 'add-ons', that are used on websites and in software applications.
ActiveX controls are often encountered when using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome. If you open a web page embedded with a video in the Window Media (.WMV) file format, your web browser uses a built-in ActiveX control that allows you to view the video directly on the web page, rather than having to load that file separately in Windows Media Player.
Why Do I Have OCX Errors?
OCX / ActiveX / MSCOMCT2.OCX errors generally occur because your web browser or program (eg. Drivers and Utilities Dell OptiPlex ResourceCD) attempts to load a corrupt or missing ActiveX control. Also, these problems may occur if some ActiveX-related subkeys are missing from the Windows registry.
When Do OCX Errors Occur?
OCX errors, such as those associated with MSCOMCT2.OCX, most often occur during computer startup, program startup, or while trying to use a specific function in your program (eg. printing).
Common MSCOMCT2.OCX Error Messages
Most MSCOMCT2.OCX errors are related to missing or corrupt MSCOMCT2.OCX files. The nine most common MSCOMCT2.OCX errors that can appear on a Windows-based computer are:
- 'Component 'MSCOMCT2.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.'
- 'MSCOMCT2.OCX failed to register. The specified module could not be found.'
- 'MSCOMCT2.OCX not found.'
- 'Cannot find MSCOMCT2.OCX.'
- 'The file MSCOMCT2.OCX is missing.'
- 'Runtime Error 339: MSCOMCT2.OCX not correctly registered.'
- 'Missing or broken reference to the file MSCOMCT2.OCX.'
- 'The Module 'MSCOMCT2.OCX' Failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found.'
- 'One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either: 1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or 2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls. As a result, the page may not display correctly.'
- 'This program requires MSCOMCT2.OCX, which is no longer included.'
These OCX error messages can appear during program installation, while a MSCOMCT2.OCX-related software program (eg. Drivers and Utilities Dell OptiPlex ResourceCD) is running, during Windows startup or shutdown, or even during the installation of the Windows operating system. Keeping track of when and where your MSCOMCT2.OCX error occurs is a critical piece of information in troubleshooting the problem.
I have some vb6 applications that i'm trying to move from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I have the .exe file, but when I tried to open it - it tells me that
Mscomctl.ocx Download Windows 8
I searched for this file in C:WindowsSysWow64 and found that the file is actually there as Type: ActiveX Control. Any reason why I'm still getting the error?

As requested, I am glad it solved your problem.
The ocx control should be in your Syswow64(if 64 bit pc) folder and not in the app folder and it need to be registered manually (common vb6 problem in Win7, 8 ,10). It seems you can see the file but it might not be registered. Run cmd in administrator mode, type 'regsvr32 C:WindowsSysWOW64MSCOMCTL.OCX. This should solve the problem
