The very first S.T. Dupont lighter, Line 1 (Ligne 1 in French) is considered by most the icon of S.T. The production started in 1941 with the launch of the first Line 1 petrol lighter, and lasted until 2013, when it was discontinued. ST Dupont stamps their lighters with numbers not aligned in a straight line, some numbers looking higher or lower then others. Counterfeited line 2 have serials engraved in a straight line. Even if your lighter doesn't look like one of the lighters pictured below it still could be fake.
